Meet Cory
Hi everyone! I'd like to share with you a blog I stumbled upon tonight. It is a MS Blog written by a spouse of a woman with MS. Many of us are bloggers with MS and I found Cory's blog insightful and interesting. Also, I hope it will be helpful for my husband to read.
Find Cory's blog here!
PS - It is a few hours later and I have insomnia again - but this time I am putting it to good use - after reading about 1 year's history of Cory's posts - I know I want to do the Swank diet, get back to Chiropractic, Massage and Yoga and start treating my body the way in needs to be treated - most of all I learned that as many have said "I have MS, MS does NOT have ME!". I believe that right now and I am fired up about it! Thanks for that Cory! I'm done feeling sorry for myself as I have been. I'm ready to fight! :-)

In Sickness and In Health
Is it fair to ask your spouse/partner/significant other to completely change their lifestyle because if you don't you could be disabled?
Here is what sparked this question -
I read Chekoala's post reminding me of Dr. Swank - and found it impressive he, himself lived to be 99.
Then I read Chekoala's post speaking of the Gawler retreat. Which lead me to....
THIS website and a realization that I may be the single person responsible for not giving my body all it needs in this world to survive MS or at the very least slow it's progression and disability.
Which leads me to the opening question in this post... read above again...
I can't do this alone and I need to be held accountable and if the situation were reversed I know how I would feel, but, isn't it worth doing together if it means you'll have a longer, less disabled life together? I wonder if this one falls under those vows we took "in sickness and in health". If I want to get to the health part...it may have to be done.
Now let me throw this in to the mix, if said diet would help your spouse/partner/significant other because the have Diabetes... how does that change your answer to my first question?

Sugar Free Peanut Butter Chocolate Pie

Hi Everyone! I made this the other day and it was amazing. Recipe Below!
Ingredients:
1 cup Peanut Butter
1 Graham Cracker Pie Crust
1 large (16oz I think) package of Sugar Free Chocolate Jello Pudding - For Stovetop Cooking - Not Instant
3 Cups of Milk
Whipped Cream (optional)
Cook the Sugar Free Chocolate Pudding on the Stovetop (if you want to reduce Fat - use Fat Free Milk) I used Lactaid Fat Free and it turned out just fine.
Soften/Melt 1-1.5 cups of Peanut Butter in Microwave (1-1.5 minutes)
Pour the softened/melted Peanut Butter into the pie crust - spread around with a spoon to even out. This will give you a thin layer of Peanut Butter. Then pour the Chocolate Pudding on top of the Peanut Butter and fill the crust.
Put the Pie uncovered into the Refrigerator for 6 hours (If you'd like to cover it after it sets and has a "skin" on it go ahead).
Slice, Top with Whipped Cream and Serve Cold! YUM
This is a quick and easy recipe and is so good!

Woo Hoo! It was a good day today!
It's the little things in life sometimes that make a big difference! Today, I booked a trip to Florida next month! So that's something to look forward too! And today Hubs got a new truck (new to us) so now we have 2 vehicles. For some time (4 months) I've been just stuck at home, unable to work if I wanted too do so because we only had 1 car due to financial reasons. My 20K in damn MS expenses last year killed us! Anyway, it was a good day! I hope it will lead to a better and more stable year! :-)
Now...I am off to search for a job! I'll get to return to the real world and be around adults again who are not my husband and friends! Sounds crazy, but, it is exciting! Finally, my luck may be turning around.
On a side note - the trees are already blooming here in Tennessee! Spring has Sprung! It was 70 degrees today! :-)

I'd be interested to hear from you...
How do you continue to live a life filled with hopes and dreams after your MS Diagnosis?
What do you do to overcome missing your healthy PRE-MS days and address your health fully?
Do you make a "Bucket List" and if so, do you feel like you are rushing against the clock of disability?
How does one get to "acceptance" of their MS Diagnosis? Are you there yet?
And Finally, do you have trouble accepting help from others because before you could do it all and now you just can't?

Meet Gigi

Hubby and I rescued an 8 month old Bichon Frise named Gigi today from an 80 year old lady who could not care for her and was going into an assisted living facility. Today was an adventure with her and Daisy fighting and playing and biting. Hopefully it will get easier in the coming week.
Here are some pictures of Gigi solo and with Daisy.
