Thank you all for the information on Tysabri. The good news is I don't need it yet. Supposedly.
I went to my Neuro on Monday, he told me that he reviewed my MRI's and My spine looks fine, and maybe even some of all those Lesions have "healed". Healed? Like they were there and now they are gone? WHAT? Doesn't that part of your spine just become "dead" like your brain and the connection permanently broken? That's what YOU DR. Told me before, now you are contradicting yourself. Did you mean to say the lesions are there but not active?
Has anyone heard of such a thing? And if my spine looks improved why the heck can't I walk? Some days only to and from the living room to the bathroom? What is with the I want to chop my legs off Pain?! And the spasms you can just watch them in my calves?!
At some point during our conversation he says "Not everything that happens to you is MS, May be some problem in your spine." And then...Get This....he compared himself to HOUSE, MD (the TV show). So hubby said, yeah he is like house...thinks he is GOD and doesn't really care for the patient. He basically gave me no answer for all this worsening experiences and PO Steroids and sent me on my way. UNBELIEVABLE! Can you say SECOND OPINION!
Oh and at one point he pushed on both sides of my groin hard and said that was the problem. Sometimes related to MS, My groin was swollen - that's what he gave me Roids for...said after a week of them my groin should be fine and my legs better. Who the hell wouldn't hurt when you pushed on your groin hard.
Does any of this make sense to my fellow MSers???

Hi Lanette, I comment directly to you and I am an old neuro nurse and I have MS.I believe Neuro healing is possible but there may be scars so I believe the conduction of electrical impulses might not be as good as before the injury. I don't follow how MS explains the groin peoblem and I have to treat my spasms because they cause fatigue and pain.If you have the option of a second opinion, I have done that and I go to a great MS specialist MD who I can talk to.From what I have read,MRI lesions do not predict the symptoms. My brain MRI looks like swiss cheese and I almost passed out when I saw it thinking, I don't feel those lesions. They are old scars and have been there for more than 20 years.I like House as sick sort of entertainment but I think he is a jerk of a doctor.Good luck, Lanette.
oh, this definitely sounds like a second opinion is needed! try to make sure you find a neurologist that knows ms in & out!!
LOL, House---arrogant. I'd get a new DR asap. Yes, "lesions" plaque, they cover the damaged myelin like a scab and there is no known way to fix that or aid it, the experts don't even know how it happens. BUT him pushing on your GROIN?? A neurologist? Ask your gyno about that one. I can't...the GROIN!!?? IMO sounds like a pervert. They have no businesss in that area. NONE. Geez, now I've heard it all. MS--symptoms come and go and honestly NOBODY knows exactly why. Educated guesses at best.
